Scale Ready CFO

Your mission is working. Let's get your business ready for what's next.

You've built a mission-driven company with real revenue and real impact - and you did it without selling your soul to traditional investors. But the finance function that got you here can't answer the questions that decide your next chapter.

The decisions are getting bigger than the answers your numbers can give.

You're not in crisis. You're in the harder spot: things are working, and now the decisions you're making are the ones that actually move the company.

What's really driving your margins? How much growth can your cash fund before it breaks? And the big one - what kind of capital could fund the next stage without costing you control of the thing you built?

When you can't answer those with confidence, the biggest decisions get made on instinct. And "stay small to stay in control" starts to look like the only safe option. It isn't.

You just need numbers you trust and a partner who speaks both finance and mission.

Who is this for…

You're in the right place if…

  • You lead a mission-driven company doing roughly $1 - $10M : climate, food, health, the just economy, worker-owned and cooperative businesses.

  • You're past proving the model. Now you're scaling it, and the finance function hasn't caught up.

  • You want to grow on your own terms - not hand the wheel to investors who don't share the mission.

  • You'd rather have a strategic partner than another report you have to chase.

How we work: The Sweet Spot

We work in the Sweet Spot - where Meaningful Numbers, Clear Decisions, and Consistent Action meet.

That's where the pure magic happens. Here's what that looks like on your team:

  • Meaningful Numbers. Reliable, current numbers you don't have to second-guess.

Reporting that tells you what's driving the business, not just what happened. This includes true margins, unit economics, and the cash runway that tells you how much time you've got.

This is where most founders start with us: they just want to trust the numbers again. And they don't want to spend hours or days building the spreadsheet themselves anymore.

  • Clear Decisions. A working forecast and model, so big decisions -related to hiring, expanding, raising prices and taking-on the big contract - stop being a gut call.

We build the cash and margin strategy that turns "I think we can afford it" into "here's exactly what it costs and when it pays back."

  • Consistent Action. A steady rhythm of review and accountability that keeps the whole team pointed at the same goals - every week, every quarter. And when it's time for the biggest action of all: raising the right capital

Capital Spotlight:

Most advisors default to the venture-equity playbook. We don't.

We know that most mission-driven companies aren't built to sell - so we help you find capital that fits your structure and your mission: patient debt, mission-aligned loan funds, cooperative and community capital, non-dilutive sources.

The right capital, on terms that keep you in control.

CFO on Speeddial is one of the few places you'll find a CFO team fluent in both the numbers and the impact-capital world.

Proof

Ten years. From $2.7M - to worker-owned - to weathering the Solar Coaster.

California Solar Electric came to CFO on Speed Dial at $2.7M in revenue but operating at a loss, working toward a worker-ownership transition with advisory support from Project Equity.

The CFO team got the company profitable enough to qualify for buy-out financing from Shared Capital, a mission-aligned loan fund.

In 2019, twelve employees became the owners.

Then came the "Solar Coaster."

The company scaled past $10M - then took a 50% revenue hit due to California regulatory changes, tariff-driven equipment shortages, and the loss of federal solar tax credits.

Through all of it, the CFO team ran a rolling forecast that reflected what was actually true week to week, and worked with Shared Capital for the working capital to keep payroll met and the company steady enough to pivot.

California Solar Coop is on target for $8M in 2026. Still profitable. Still worker-owned.

We know impact capital from the inside

The CFO team also served for three years as CFO to Black Farmer Fund building the financial infrastructure behind their $20M community-controlled fund that reaches Black food and farm businesses on non-extractive terms. We continue to partner with them today providing technical assistance support to applicants to the Fund.

We're active in the Innovative Finance Initiative, Slow Money NYC, and Santander Bank’s Cultivate Small Business communities.

We're also a training expert in Project Equity's Employee Ownership module for CFOs - the same worker-ownership network that advised Cal Solar.

We're a trusted CFO partner to the mission-aligned loan funds that finance companies like yours.

When we talk about raising the right capital, we're talking about a world we already work in.

“Joining the group program was one of the smartest financial decisions I’ve ever made. Christine taught me to make small and simple shifts in the way I approach my revenue and cash flow, and helped me increase my net profit dramatically. ”
